Coalition Participates in WWU College of the Environment Speaker Series

Lindsie Fratus-Thomas speaks about the salmon habitat restoration efforts currently happening around the county.

On February 8th, Lindsie Fratus-Thomas, Pete Granger and Dan Tucker represented the Coalition with talk about 'Our Working Waterfronts' for the College of the Environment at Western Washington University.

The talk highlighted our current clean up efforts around 12 different sites in Bellingham, the salmon habitat restoration that happens in the County, and one of our maritime sectors - Commercial Fishing.  Whether restoring habitat for salmon, participating in our active history of sustenance by sea in our fishing fleet, or following the Dept. of Ecology in their long-term clean up of contaminants, our waterfronts are a busy, growing area of our economy and an important part of our environment. Both aspects of our waterfront work in balance with one another, and the ongoing conversation around that balance is what makes Bellingham a unique region.
