Love Your Waterfront Episode 10:

The Captain is a Woman - Deb Dempsey

This week, we get to sit down with a Master Mariner, Columbia Bar Pilot, and maritime mentor, Deb Dempsey. We'll chat with her about her journey and adventures, and you can hear what the merchant marine career world is like first-hand from an accomplished, professional Master Mariner who not only once carried a bull named Ferdinand across the Mediterranean, but also saved the day in heroic fashion when a ship grounding threatened the Carolina coast.

She also is excited to offer mentorship to aspiring mariners. From Deb: "After a lifetime of being on the water both recreationally and professionally, I value giving back to you, my community, however my many years of experiences might benefit you. If you'd like a bit more information about how to recreate or work professionally on the water, I might be able to offer some tips and/or networking ideas. To have a mentor can be a valuable asset. I certainly had the good fortune to tap into the expertise of a few special people with whom I crossed paths. I wish the same for you."

To obtain a copy of her book, 'The Captain is a Woman', or for interest in her mentorship for up and coming mariners, please contact Deb Dempsey at:
