Maritime Washington National Heritage Area

Shaped by Sea & Story

The newly designated Maritime Washington National Heritage Area spans some 3000 miles of coastline along Washington's shores. This new endeavor is part of the Washington Trust for Historical Preservation, and seeks to share the stories and places of our waterfronts, their heritage and history, and to connect our vast network of communities all shaped by sea and story.

The Whatcom Working Waterfront Coalition is a proud anchor-organization for the program, and we work to organize events like our Blue Drinks networking meet ups, to facilitate connection and networking that helps individuals and organizations to stay connected to our waterfronts, host a radio program with Bellingham Seafeast on KMRE 88.3 to tell the stories, news and events going on around our shores, and we work with the Whatcom Maritime Heritage Museum to preserve our history of maritime and marine trades in our county.  Check out more about the federal designation and program via the links below.
