Hamid has an extensive maritime background, starting with receiving his 100-ton captain’s license at the age of 22. While piloting 20 different passenger vessels including whale watching vessels and high-speed water taxis throughout the Seattle area and the San Juan islands ranging from 65 feet to 250 feet in length, he eventually upgraded to a 500-ton inland license. He also taught 1,600-ton captain’s courses, able bodied seaman courses, and Lifeboatman courses at the Seattle Maritime Academy located in Ballard. He helped raise his children as he completed his business school education. Hamid then joined the team at Seattle Marine & Fishing Supply Co. Hamid is currently the outside sales manager for Seattle Marine, while also assisting with keeping the new Seattle Marine Bellingham store up to speed. He resides in Bellingham with his three young children, where they all enjoy exploring the local trails, and flying RC airplanes and kites together.
